Hola, fellow die-cast addicts! Last week saw the launch of our very own forum (hwep.kinja.com) and since then we have been overwhelmed with posts. We have had over 200 articles and nearly 75 posters. Not quite OPPO numbers yet, but I am shocked at how popular it has become, so quickly. We've even got a (less copyright infringing) new logo, courtesy of PHILIPILIHP SPELLED BACKWARDS.

As LET'S JUST DRIVE IS MLKOBIAN (originator of this series) so perfectly put it:

We're open to all sorts of die-cast discussion no matter the brand, scale or your style of collecting, trading and and possibly zipping around your living-room floor!

So let's get to some of the best articles and discussions, so far:

One issue that soon arises when you begin to buy die-casts is: where to put them!

Some people feature them on their !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! but ED-PETROLHEAD posted some !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! :

Kinja'd!!!

Color coding looks incredible!

ITCHYS2 posted his !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (featuring a custom Hot Wheels logo!) as well.

T_S posted his collection of Martini and Jagermiester livery cars, under the very amusing title, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

AYA asked which of your die-casts !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

ZEONTESTPILOT picked this 73 Mustang:

Kinja'd!!!

I hope it has lourves over the back window!

FROSTED, THE DIECAST CAR GUY opened an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on the current state of Matchbox cars.

I thought KRIEGER summed it up decently:

I think Matchbox cars have better looking detail tampos.

However, almost all the pegs here are filled with construction vehicles. I want 1Ms, cop Gallardos and other desirable stuff, not these :/

For one of the current Hot Wheels that has this issue, look no further than the Civic EF in teal:

Kinja'd!!!

I know you shouldn't expect too much from something that can usually be found for a dollar or less, but why even bother trying to make the B pillar black? Leaving it teal would be fine with me. That photo is cribbed from the Lamley Group, by the way, which anyone interested in collecting, or just finding out what's coming out next, should definitely check out. A lot of times, they'll show off cars I had no idea about! CIINUBBIN !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for instance.

One of the things I love best about collecting and trading die-casts is photographing them.

DIECAST PHOTOGRAPHY became an official member of Live and Let Die-Cast. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! showed how far some of us still need to go....

Kinja'd!!!

My daily !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is back up. A surprise favorite from the previous week was a Nissan Stagea by Tomica:

Kinja'd!!!

Tomica's feature spring suspension on even their 1:62 models. It certainly gives this car a great stance!

ESSEXTEE !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I was very impressed! Incredible for a first time, for sure.

Kinja'd!!!

From OCTACONMUTASIM was this AE86:

Kinja'd!!!

And finally, DAVESADDICTION !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! incredible pics.

Kinja'd!!!

Wow.

One of the things LIVE AND LET DIE-CAST authors do best is reviews. Here were some particularly outstanding ones:

HUZER titled his review of a 1:18 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Clearly he was being modest.

The interior continues to impress. The toggle switches aren't functional, but those seats are made of real leather. I didn't investigate close enough to see if it was a clear coat over the gauges, or an actual overlay, but there are depth to the gauges that just aren't found with your typical stickers or water transfer decals.

Kinja'd!!!

Real cows died to make this die-cast folks!

OCTACONMUTASIM also had a stellar review of his 1:65 Tomica !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I particularly enjoyed his 'disclosure':

( Full disclosure : Tomica wanted me to review their IS350 F Sport so badly -maybe, maybe not- that they shipped hundreds of these to my country for me to buy and play with.)

ZEONTESTPILOT reviewed a pair of 1:64 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Here's a great quote:

Anyways, notice the tail light, pretty cool huh? Let me blow your mind, just like the front, its a translucent piece of plastic underneath the body. So its really cool because it's not an illusion of depth, but actually depth to the lights.

There were so many great reviews I could do a whole edition of "Chasing" without talking about anything else. However, the last one I will single out is EL_ULY's review of his 1:18 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

They did do a good job with the details over all. We'll get into fit and finish next but as far as the exterior and interior, this car does not disappoint but can be improved with other brands with reflect in cost. In this case, the engine bay is a little too meh.

Of course the Hot Wheels Exchange Program has been active as ever. The URL is hwep.kinja.com after all! !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (You'd like to join)

ARCH DUKE !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! from MR BENJAMIN ROLLAND

LUC.A and I sent cars across the US/Canadian border !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Which started out as an e92 M3 for a Dodge Tomahawk, and expanded rapidly...

SN210, TYPE-S and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

PHILIPILIHP SPELLED BACKWARDS !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! also from MR BENJAMIN ROLLAND

Another area that has been rapidly gaining popularity is customization.

CARNAGE717 found !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! He also !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . If that sounds a bit too toxic for you PHILIPILIHP !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Customization can be a simple paint job:

Kinja'd!!!

To something, well much more extensive...

Kinja'd!!!

Both of these were again taken from !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and belong to their respective owners (obviously).

I can't wait to see what LIVE AND LET DIE-CAST authors come up with!

Finally, the backbone of HWEP and what keeps us searching the pegs, the HAWLS:

I hope to post more custom stuff soon. I finally managed to get enough materials together to do the costums I want to do and do them the way I want.

If that's Hot-Wheel-sized, then I'd call that paint nothing short of impressive.
